Spring is ahead and I hope the beautiful blue-bonnet fields carpet the whole of central and southeast Texas. Just being facetious about Californians. They’re great folks. At least the ones with common sense and decency with politeness toward other people. That’s the Texas way… treat people with dignity, kindness, and Texas hospitality. Enjoy a beautiful sunset, a cold brew, and talk about the kids and grand-kids. God Bless Texas and everybody else.
Texas has strong and consistent conservative values.
One of the primary reasons many Texans yearn for independence is the thought that these values, and what they bring to families and communities, are being challenged by a liberal, progressive agenda sponsored by the Government and the teeming, oppressive ideologies forced on people by the socialist-left. Many Texans believe our God given freedoms outlined in the Constitution and Declaration of Independence are being stripped away by politicians and judges bent on a socialist agenda controlled by the Democratic Party.
Our mission at Texas 2100 is achieving Texas independence by the year 2100.
Most people, in and out of Texas, do not think Texas can separate itself from the US without an uncivil insurrection (the Civil War was not civil at all). Many countries have gained independence through political and socially recognized processes. There have also been cases of devastating wars of secession. There are numerous separatist or nationalists movements on-going throughout the world today. Most of which are of a political nature. Recognizing the overwhelming desire and action toward self-rule, we have to ask this question:
If Texans, as citizens of the US, wanted independence, and were capable of acting as a sovereign nation, why would the US Government deny them that option? Why is Texas obligated to remain in the US federal system, if the majority of Texans desire to be de-annexed.
There are numerous precedents in international law, and even in our own history, that support the right of self-governance and the freedom to choose how that governance functions. The Texas Constitution states (Article 1. Section 2.):
“INHERENT POLITICAL POWER; REPUBLICAN FORM OF GOVERNMENT. All political power is inherent in the people, and all free governments are founded on their authority, and instituted for their benefit. The faith of the people of Texas stands pledged to the preservation of a republican form of government, and, subject to this limitation only, they have at all times the inalienable right to alter, reform or abolish their government in such manner as they may think expedient.”
So I ask you:
If people of a certain place, sharing a common heritage and history, and who desire to be bound by laws and standards of their own choice – having reasonable cause to insubordinate themselves from a oppressive regime – what SHOULD prevent them from governing themselves, being sovereign?
1A sovereign state is a political entity that is represented by one centralized government that has sovereignty over a geographic area. International law defines sovereign states as having a permanent population, defined territory, one government and the capacity to enter into relations with other sovereign states. It is also normally understood that a sovereign state is neither dependent on nor subjected to any other power or state. According to the declarative theory of statehood, a sovereign state can exist without being recognised by other sovereign states. Unrecognised states will often find it difficult to exercise full treaty-making powers or engage in diplomatic relations with other sovereign states.
This may seem like a rhetorical question. If so, the rhetorical answer is: the hegemonic regime, in our (Texas’) case, the Federal Government of the United States of America.
In order for Texas to achieve independence, through a US federally sanctioned secession, Texas must illustrate the citizens of Texas fundamentally desire sovereignty and have the necessary political, social, economic, and security resources needed to establish a new nation built on democratic principles that ensure the life, liberty and sanctity of the people who constitute its domain; that individual human rights are respected and the social system is just, uplifts all people, and progresses toward the ideal of our humanity.
